The Standard

Altitude Control.

An open visual and dosing standard for cannabis and hemp-derived products. Four pillars by mind-state. Five altitudes by intensity. Every placement reproducible from a Certificate of Analysis.

Altitude Control encodes two things every cannabis consumer wants to know before they buy. How will I feel? — answered by a compass quadrant (tree for calm, eye for clarity, hourglass for sustained, strawberry for sensory). How high will I go? — answered by an altitude band (turtle, tree, balloon, airplane, UFO) bracketed by inward arrows on a dashed-horizon axis. Together they specify a coordinate on a 4×5 grid; every credible product on the market lives in one cell.

01. The vertical axis

Altitude — how high you'll go.

The Altitude Control vertical axis showing dashed horizon lines and altitude bands

The vertical axis stacks five reference scenes, separated by dashed-horizon lines: turtle on the ground, tree among low mountains, hot-air balloon at mid altitude, airplane in clear flight, UFO at the exotic top.

The dashed lines are the system's grammar — they appear on every product card, every product detail page, and as the underlying grid of this page. They encode the idea that altitude is navigable, not vague. Inward-pointing arrows bracket the precise band a product places the consumer in.

Each altitude is anchored in milligrams of THC-equivalent, computed from a product's cannabinoid stack via our published Cannabinoid Pharmacology Framework.

02. The dose ladder

Anchored in milligrams.

The altitude bands are not vibes. They are computable.

Turtle — ground
< 2.5 mg
Non-psychoactive or near-zero psychoactivity. CBD-dominant, CBD+CBN sleep formulas, low-dose Δ8 paired with high CBD. The safest SKU to lead a hemp-direct launch with.
Tree — low altitude
2.5 – 5 mg
Microdose territory. 4:1 or 2:1 CBD:THC ratios. Where Balance lives commercially. First-time edibles consumers should land here.
Balloon — mid altitude
5 – 10 mg
The consumer is unmistakably somewhere, but the experience is controlled and conversational. Full-spectrum extracts, sativa-leaning Δ9 blends. Clarity territory; Balance crosses into here for evening use.
Airplane — high
10 – 25 mg
The recreational sweet spot for experienced consumers. Alt-cannabinoid blends like Δ8/THCO and the lower end of THCp formulations live here. Both Clarity (in its adventurous SKUs) and Delight cross through.
UFO — peak / exotic
25+ mg
Novelty-and-intensity buyers. High THCp ratios, complex multi-cannabinoid stacks, federally-legal hemp gray-market territory. Delight lives here exclusively. UFO SKUs carry extra packaging education.
03. The horizontal compass

The compass — how you'll feel.

The Altitude Control compass with four quadrants: tree, eye, hourglass, strawberry

The compass anchors four reference icons in a target ring.

Tree — the upper-left quadrant — carries calm: grounded, body-and-mind even. The Balance pillar lives here.

Eye — upper-right — carries clarity: awake, articulate, social. The Clarity pillar lives here.

Hourglass — lower-left — carries sustained: slow, heavy, decompressed. The Decompress pillar lives here.

Strawberry — lower-right — carries sensory: playful, flavor-forward, social-high. The Delight pillar claims this quadrant.

05. The 4×5 matrix

Every product, one cell.

The empty cells are intentional. A Decompress-UFO product would conflict with the brand's promise.

06. The card in practice

How a SKU wears the system.

Four example cards from AltControlex1: dashed horizons, inward arrows, landscape ground-line, altitude icon centered. The same grammar appears on the pack, the product detail page, and the Index card.

Altitude Control Verified

Apply for placement & certification.

A separate, disclosed program for hemp and cannabis brands whose products faithfully render an altitude band on consumer-facing packaging, declare their cannabinoid stack on a public COA, and submit to periodic editorial review.

Verified certification does not buy you an Index review or score. Editorial coverage is independent. Brands can be Verified-and-unreviewed, or reviewed-and-unverified, or both, or neither.
